Fabryczna is passenger friendly

Preparations for technical handovers at the Fabryczna Station construction site are in progress. According to PKP PLK schedule, after multidisciplinary handovers, the first trains will leave the station in December. It is planned that over 100 drafts per day will enter the station; more than at the old station – the representatives of Investors: PKP PLK and City of Łódź informed at the Monday meeting with journalists.

- Currently we are monitoring the biggest railway investment in one place in Poland. The stage of handovers will be very important. Łódź Fabryczna is a project of a great transport significance, not just for Łódź. Along with the prepared underground line to Łódź Kaliska will create new possibilities of long-distance and local transport – said Ireneusz Merchel, president of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.

- Łódź Fabryczna will be one of the city and region landmarks. The new station and tunnel are a part of the great project of city reconstruction and modernization, they free large development areas in the city center and they increase the significance of railway in the local and regional traffic. It is pivotal for the local government and for the whole region to continue construction of the cross-city railway tunnel by PKP PLK with the new stations: Łódź Centrum and Łódź Manufaktura. With these changes, Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna will aim to create the second, after Warsaw, system of underground railway with three stations in the city center. We will support PLK to achieve a quick handover of the whole investment according to the schedule – said Witold Stępień, marshal of the łódzkie voivodship.

There are four platforms made at the station. In the tunnel and next to the platforms there are 12 km of tracks, and installed railway traffic control devices. Hanging the catenary at the station is about to finish. There will be 37 thousand m² of suspended ceilings, over 20 thousand m2 of claddings at the walls and over 4 thousand m2 of glass walls in the glass building of the station. The light will be provided by 9 thousand lamps, including the state of the art LED luminaires. For all devices at the station to work well 340 km of cables have been laid.

The three-level building is traveler-friendly, and contains solutions for the disabled. PLK consulted the building design with two organizations of the disabled and the visually impaired.
